"THROUGH THE NIGHT" is the story of six African-American males, age 10 to 60, who discover the power of possibility through one extraordinary event. With commanding skill, compassion and humor, Daniel Beaty gives voice to this community of men, those who love them, and what it means to be Black and male in America. Beaty won an Obie Award for his critically-acclaimed solo play EMERGENCE-SEE!, which had a sold-out run at The Public Theater during the 2005-06 season.
"THROUGH THE NIGHT" addresses subjects that concern the African-American community specifically and all people generally. In the play, characters face a wide range of issues that include family relationships, fatherhood, economic stability, health and wellness, incarceration, youth violence, activism, education, sexuality, and religion.
Community dialogues with Beaty and distinguished guests will follow specific performances.
