HUGHES’ DREAM HARLEM is a cine-poetic film on Langston Hughes, one of the most prominent figures of the Harlem Renaissance.

Sonia Sanchez, Amiri Baraka, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee and others, express how Langston Hughes has continuing impact on their work and other Black writers and poets that follow in his footsteps.

The recitation of Hughes’ poetry by a young poet is combined with archival footage and re-enactments. Hughes Dream Harlem ends with one of Hughes’ most celebrated works, The Negro Speaks of Rivers.
